The very first in the world carbon-ceramic brake system for the Rolls-Royce Cullinan
False modesty aside, it’s a great pleasure to feel, that you are working on a car of most car owners dreams.
God damn it, it is a brand new Rolls-Royce Cullinan!!!
We would like to express our gratitude to the car owner, who put his trust in our company.
To get the measurements taken the Rolls-Royce Cullinan came on a tow track to us.
The odometer was clean as a virgin, and only the fresh snow on the wheels gave away, that 10 meters from our track to the workshop this beauty made on it’s own.
The first impression is always important, yet the question is “who’s looking?”
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan face expresses superiority !!!
In my opinion, that the designers from Chichester did their job extremely well.
First that blows your mind is the size of this car!
It’s gigantic and no photo or a video can express how that feels.
Minimalism in the exterior design only adds to the feeling, that this car was made “BE”, and not just to “SEEM to be”.
The grill is made out of real stainless steel, and the body is out of aluminum alloy.
It is practically imossible to find BMW parts , as they designed and made particularly for this car.
The car’s interior is shick, yet, modest. No overdecorative gypsy style, no pseudo constructivism.
Let’s come down from our cloud 9 and move to the brake system of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Here, obviously, lays the greatest lack of the BMW company.
Studying the catalogue, even before we did the measurements, I realised, that the brake rotors
– front axle diameter 395 (mm) & 36 (mm) thick) ОЕ 34116887397 / 34116887398
– rear axle diameter 398 (mm) & 28 (mm) thick) ОЕ 34216871258
are used for 7-er G12.
Front axle brake calipers have their own part numbers, but they are just two letters RR on a caliper’s body painted in silver colour.
Rear calipers are absolutely identical in the way they are used with the G12 calipers.
Apparently they count on inexperienced owners of RR, as the brake system is practically invisible behind luxurious wheel discs.
The specification says, to use the most advanced brake system parts to install into the car.
The front axle got a brake rotor of a 440 (mm) diameter, and – 44 (mm) thick.
The brake caliper Akebono with 10 multisized pots.
The brake pad is at the moment of the most advanced structure with ‘suspension’ on a pin.
To lower the chances of unwanted sound effects (screeching, squeaking, etc) a big weight (400 gr.) attached to the caliper.
The hats of a brake rotor are traditionally made from stainless steel austenitic class 12Х18Н10Т.
Front adapters have quite a large axial Z offset, that is why the decision to use steel with a protective zink coating was made.
The prptective covers we are designing and cut with a laser from AMG3, then we colour it using powder paint.
The brake lines are traditionally Goodridge.
